About the Phuket province in Thailand
The Phuket Province is actually one large island (Phuket island) along with several smaller islands and boasts many beautiful beaches as well as breathtaking scenery. Whatever you are looking for in your holiday, Phuket has something for everyone.
Phuket island is divided into three districts, Mueang Phuket, Kathu and Thalang. Phuket city (the capital) is located on the south east coast in the Mueang Phuket district, the Airport is in the Thalang District.
One of the most popular resorts in Phuket is Patong, which is situated on the west coast in the district of Kathu. Patong is where the majority of the nightlife and shopping can be found, it also offers a stunning beach.

Beaches on Phuket island include Bang Tao Beach, Chalong Beach, Emerald Beach, Kamala Beach, Karon, Kata Beach, Mai Khao, Nai Yang, Surin Beach, and of course, Patong Beach. The beaches vary across the island of Phuket, with the sandy beaches being predominantly on the west of the island. The east coastline has a mainly muddy coastline with not many beach locations.

The Islands that make up the Phuket province include Koh Naka Yai, Koh Naka Noi, Koh Rang Yai, Koh Rang Noi, Koh Maphrao, Koh Sirae, Koh Lon, Koh Aeo and Koh Hae. The Phi Phi islands and the Similan Islands are only a boat trip away from Phuket island, offering some spectacular scenery and marine life.
